Guidelines for Rental of the Main Street Museum Bridge Street Headquarters 58 Bridge Street, White River Junction, Vermont, 05001

The Main Street Museum Board of Directors and Staff are pleased to offer the Museum space for private parties and other functions for short term rentals. The facility: The Museum is a roughly 2,000 square foot exhibition/museum space in downtown White River Junction, Vermont, with a 24 square foot covered deck overlooking the agreeable waters of the White River. The Museum has been rented with great sucess for lectures, private parties, benefits for local non-profits, and even weddings. Rental of the Museum space runs from $250 to $500 depending on the amount of services (see below) required from Musuem staff. We also have a special not-for-profit or educational rate of $150.

Included with rental:

  • Kitchen: A small kitchen area with a small frig, microwave, paper plates, cups, bowls and other accouterment is available for simple food prep, limited storage etc. There is no sink in the kitchen.
  • Bathroom: The bathroom is located in the center hallway of the Museum and serves one person at a time. There is an additional bathroom downstairs in the Museum Building for Urgencies.
  •  Stage and Sound System: Fully equipped, powered speakers and a mixing board are located in the center of the Museum.
  • Clean Up: Museum space must be left in the same condition as it was at the beginning of the evening. The Museum requests, but does not require, that guests help in any convenient manner, the clean up of the physical space.
  • Access: Set up for events here can occur a day or two before the event, with permission of Museum staff, but must not conflict with Museum open hours; ie: Thursday thru Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m.
  • Parking: Museum Headquarters are located at 58 Bridge Street, in downtown White River Junction, adjacent to the Lehman Bridge, between the railroad underpass and the White River. Parking for Museum patrons is available on the street nearby on "Railroad Row" or in the Courthouse/Depot Parking lot. Half-hour drop-off parking is available in the front of the Museum Building. (Please drive in counter-clockwise!)
And our neighbors Daniel Johnson and Bob Pickering have asked that we don't park on their property, so, please Dont Park at our Neighbors! Our neighbors have objected to both the skin and the percieved sexual orientation of our friends and loved ones; and hate has no place in the Upper Valley, or anywhere else for that matter. • Trash and Recycling: Trash containers are placed at most entrances to the Museum space. Recycling containers are used for glass and plastic and are located near the Museum kitchen area and on the deck of the Museum. Empty containers only please; no liquids of any type! Please pour liquids from left-over recyclables into the sink, or onto the back-side of the deck onto the parking lot. Do not pour liquids of any type onto Museum cars, located underneath the deck. Really; why do we even have to say this? Extra trash and recycling containers are available.
  • Condoms and Health Literature: Both condoms and sexual health literature are donated to the Museum from ACORN (a local health adcovacy group) and the Good Nieghbor Health Clinic are distributed, on a discrete shelf in the restroom, to all Museum patrons—including private parties.
  • Services: Tours, Victrola concerts, live ukulele music and even tarot readings have been offered to guests during Museum rentals.
  •  Smoking: In accordance with Vermont Law, Smoking is only allowed outside of the Museum Building, in the parking lot, or in front of the building.
