Wood, Shavings from hand-planer. Primarily Butternut, Cherry, and Oak.

Principal components: Lignin, Cellulose and Tannin in varying percentages. Resins, turpins are present, to a greater or lesser extent, particularly in coniferous, or softwoods.

The extant collection of the Museum concerns itself with deciduous samples, or hardwoods, the most common woods for contemporary fine carpentry.
