Orlando Bailey “O.B.” Foote was born Harpersfield, Delaware County, New York, 27 Feb 1846 to Charles A. Foote and Jerusha Ann Buck, of Harpersfield [Delaware gazette., October 21, 1896, Page 2].

0.B. Foote Dies Suddenly This Afternoon From a Shock
Orlando Bailey Foote, widely known throughout Delaware and adjoining counties as a cattle dealer, expired at his home, Red Bank, in Hobart at 3:45 o'clock this afternoon. Mr. Foote had been enjoying his usual good health and had been playing croquet on the lawn of his home earlier in the day. He was leaving the house when he suddenly fell and expired at once.
Mr. Foote was the son of the late Charles A. Foote and was born in Harpersfield, February 27, 1846. The family lived at times In Harpersfield. Bloomville and Walton during the boyhood days of Mr. Foote. Later his father returned to Harpersfield and bought the J.T.R. Clark farm of Colonel Harper, who was closely identified with the early history of this section and from whom the town of Harpersfield was named.
In 1871 Charles A. Foote bought a. farm near Blue Stores. Columbia County, where he lived until about 1874. On June 11, 1873 he married Ella Endora Stevens, a granddaughter of Colonel Stevens of Harpersfield. who was also another prominent citizen of that place. Mrs. Foote died in December, 1912.
Over 50 years ago Mr. Foote bought the large farm located in the outskirts of Hobart village, widely known as the Foote Homestead, now owned by E.L. Foote. For years Mr. Foote conducted this farm and was a dealer in cattle on an extensive scale. Buyers from far and near came to Mr. Foote for cattle and his judgment and counsel in the cattle market were eagerly sought.
Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. O.B. Foote, eight of whom are surviving. They are: Mrs. W.H. Sheffield, Ridgewood, N.J.; Mrs. George Scott, Melbourne, Fla.; Mrs. A.G. Hume, Stamford; Mrs. Frank Lamport, Hobart; E.L. Foote and John A. Foote, Hobart; Fred B. Foote, New York, and O.B. Foote, Jr., Oakland, Cal.
Mr. Foote was educated in the district schools and attended Walton Academy and Fort Edward Literary Institute. He was a staunch Democrat and was supervisor of the town of Stamford about 28 years ago. He was also a member of the Board of Education of Hobart High School for a number of years and was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, serving as one of its vestrymen and also as warden for a long term.
O.B. Foote was one of the real men of the community. He made a legion of friends everywhere for his splendid character and upright dealings. By his remarkable industry and untiring energy he accumulated a competency and above all else an exemplary record In his community. The funeral arrangements have not been made at the hour of going to press.
