Gallon Bottle of Hard Cider, Severely Spoiled Glass and deteriorating vinegar. Rubber stopper is badly decomposed. Dirt is covering much of this artifact. Buried in the ground at a depth of 2.8 feet this sample of liquor was hidden at the time of Prohibition.
The sugar, breaking down to alcohol, is now transformed into acetic acid, or vinegar. Acetic acid is, comparatively, weak in capacity, yet is used commonly in the preservation of food.
