I have enclosed two objects that have been recent inspirations. One is a perfectly twisted vine and a tiny sparrow feather. Both were on the floor of my studio together. I mounted them for you. The vine reminds me of the path the perfect feather made as it fell … like the fluff of feathers that dripped and loosed from Icarus’ wings as he soard with abandon. The second object is a milk weed pod that has lived outside my studio door. I tried not to mow it over, found two monarch cucoons, only one hatched. The seed pod blew into my studio one gusty day. I love the coarse outside, smooth inside. Like walnuts and lovers, once opened up the inside is very different from the outside. —Andy Moerlein
