Tools
Overview
Subgroup: Bundled/Packaged/Tied Objects
Tools are direct links to the hands of those who have gone before. What manner of people these were can be seen from not only the tools themselves, the metal, the bone, the wood, but the unmistakable marks of the human hands that have left their own indelible imprint on the very structure of these items.
Even if an artifact is made in sets or multiples—in a factory perhaps—, still the hands and the years of use have marked these ordinary items with the stamp of a personality, leaving them almost as individual as the worker who labored with them as constant companions.
Spending time with the artifacts in this case is like spending time with friends. First comes a surprising dialog. Then what is needed is patience. Patience with their little conceits—even their infidelities—will always be rewarded with a rich relationship.
